9 things you didn’t know about me

9 Things you didn’t know about me
Hello there! Today’s post it’s a bit more personal, I wasn’t entirely sure how to do it, I mean this blog is just a month old but I’m so glad to be able to know such a great community of beautiful and kind people like yourself.  I for one know that I really like to get to know the people whose lives I read about. So I thought why not share a few facts about myself?
Here are some things you didn’t know about me.

My favorite color is yellow. I’m obsessed with this color, it brings me joy, i can’t have enough yellow in my life that’s all I can say.

Music has a big impact in my life. When I start feeling overwhelm or just having to much in my head, music help me to calm down or if a need a little extra in my morning work out i can always find the perfect song on my Spotify playlist; I like to listen it while I’m cooking, getting ready, doing laundry, driving. I like every type from classical to hip hop.

I love thrift shopping and antiquing. I mean who doesn’t right? Spending part of my afternoon looking for little treasures in thrift stores it one of my favorite things to do, you know the old saying “Someone’s trash can be someone’s treasure” well I’m pretty good at finding treasures.

My favorite season is FALL. The crisp air, the leaves turning orange and the smell of cinnamon and all spice in my house, makes my heart happy, but don’t get me wrong I enjoy every bit of summer weather but, autumn its just peace and comfort for my soul. Spending my afternoon reading with a warm cup of tea and a fluffy blanket its what heaven looks to me.

I write on my journal every morning. I do a grateful list every day to start my day with a grateful mindset and trust me, if I can give you a piece of advice about anything it will be do this practice an habit in your life  “Do a list of 10 things you are grateful for” everyday. They don’t have to be big or important things, some days I’m just grateful for my green smoothie or for the joke my husband told me this morning. Start your day with a grateful heart.

My favorite food are TACOS. I don’t know a single person who enjoy a full plates of homemade tacos as i do, I mean come on, they are tasty, warm, and spicy they can be eaten in the morning, afternoon and night and let’s face it… TACOS ARE THE BEST FOOD IN THE WORLD.

Self-development books are my jam. I’m currently reading OWN YOUR EVERYDAY by Jordan Lee Dooley. Soooo good! Go get it at any store books are sold.

I have a playful blue heeler called Molly, she is one year old and she is like my third child. #dogmom

BONUS FACT      The purpose of my writing. I have been writing since I was little tiny human only for myself, but a few months ago I started using it to express my feelings, interest and build relationships with people around the world.

Let’s be cool moms

Hey girl!
I have found a lot of internet articles about how to be a “perfect mom” but after reading them I was like, I don’t want to be perfect mom, I want to be a cool mom.

I want to be a cool mom, because I have 2 smart, awesome daughters that are looking every step I make and they need to know that they don’t have to be perfect, they just need to be themselves.
So, a question pop into my head what makes a cool mom? Well I think these 5 things described pretty much what cool moms do.

She is the BOSS!
A  cool mom is the Boss in her family and in her business, of course she knows what is for dinner tonight but she also knows what time tomorrow’s meeting starts and where the PTA fundraiser is gonna be.

She hangout with other moms and talks about grown up stuff.
Even if she is a home stay mom she know that for her sanity she needs grown-ups interaction.
She shows her kiddos that having friends her age is a priority for her. And that she can be besties with them and grown-ups as well.

She knows about technology
Cool moms are good at texting, snapping, making insta-stories even having a blog (wink, wink)
By knowing how social media and internet works she is able to understand better the tech world her kids are growing up in.

Use as little of “mom” items as possible. She reads blogs, love fashion and takes cute pictures with her kids.
She has a big diaper bag with tiny teething toys, sunscreen but also with her laptop, iPhone, nail polish and lipstick.
Let me tell you something you probably didn’t know.
Being a mom doesn’t mean you lose your sense of style or that you are destined to wear pajamas for the rest of your life. Sister, you rock those ripped jeans and awesome shirt even if as a tiny juice stain on it.

She takes time to get readyOk ladies, this is important; a cool mom takes time of her morning to look her best so she can feel her best. ‘’If you look good you feel good” so she wakes up earlier to get ready without yelling like a crazy lady while her kids are running around without a sock or their shirt backwards. She is cool because she knows she is ready to conquer her day and to achieve her goals.

Being who you are and give yourself grace is what makes you a cool mom!!!

The Enneagram!

I’m obsessed with this personality theory.

The Enneagram evaluates you as one of 9 types; each type has its own strengths, personality lines and weakness. Let me assure this, it’s INSANELY accurate.

I’m so happy to share with you what my enneagram type is and how it has helped me understand my dynamics in my business and personal life. Can you guess what type am I?

After a took the enneagram test, I found out I’m a type 3 which is called “The Achiever” I love the fact of being an “Achiever” because I mean who wouldn’t right? I just sounded like a true 3. I am always working hard, hustling and working toward goals. To be honest with you I expect a lot from myself.
But the weaknesses of my type, oh boy! I can relate to them so well it’s crazy, you see, 3’s want to make sure their lives are a success, but how we define success it can turn our life into a nightmare. Like the Enneagram Institute describe it: “No matter how success is defined, 3’s will try to become somebody noteworthy in their family and community. They refuse to be “nobody”
To be really honest with you sis, I’m still working on overcoming the tendency of want to achieve more and more without enjoy my triumphs. It requires so much self-awareness and self-work to check my priorities and keep moving forward.

They are 9 types of people according to the Enneagram Institute:
1.      THE REFORMER The Rational, Idealistic Type: Principled, Purposeful, Self-Controlled, and Perfectionist
2.       THE HELPER The Caring, Interpersonal Type: Demonstrative, Generous, People-Pleasing, and Possessive
3.      THE ACHIEVER The Success-Oriented, Pragmatic Type: Adaptive, Excelling, Driven, and Image-Conscious
4.      THE INDIVIDUALIST The Sensitive, Withdrawn Type: Expressive, Dramatic, Self-Absorbed, and Temperamental
5.      THE INVESTIGATOR The Intense, Cerebral Type: Perceptive, Innovative, Secretive, and Isolated
6.      THE LOYALIST The Committed, Security-Oriented Type: Engaging, Responsible, Anxious, and Suspicious
7.       THE ENTHUSIAST The Busy, Fun-Loving Type: Spontaneous, Versatile, Distractible, and Scattered
8.      THE CHALLENGER The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-Confident, Decisive, Willful, and Confrontational
9.      THE PEACEMAKER The Easygoing, Self-Effacing Type: Receptive, Reassuring, Agreeable, and Complacent

I challenge you to take the Enneagram test and check the accuracy of your result, girl it’s gonna blow your mind.
This test will give you an exceptional look into yourself and why you do all things the way you do.

4 Hairstyles for unwashed hair

4 Hairstyles to do with unwashed hair

OMG!!! Some friend just found out I don’t wash my hair everyday!!!
Wait what? Well first of all, it’s the best way to keep your hair healthy because of your own natural oils. (My hairdresser advice)
I wash my hair every 3 o 4 days, and let me tell you sister, my hair feels and looks AMAZING!
Anyways if you feel that you can’t go without washing your hair every single day, I got you, because these hairstyles look good with clean hair as well.

MY TO GO MESSY BUN

–          Start by pulling all your hair up in a ponytail, the higher the better.
–          Then secure your ponytail with an elastic band
–          Make all your hair fall down like in different angles
–          You are gonna take a tiny elastic and put it around your hair and pull a few pieces of your hair to make it puffier. Just mess with your bun.
–          Last you use bobby pins to secure the loose ends around the bun or under the elastic.

TEASED PONYTAIL

–          With a comb tease or backcomb the crown of your hair.
–          Pull your hair into a ponytail, then loose some pieces of hair or even curl a little bit the ends.

HAT HAIR

–          Yes, please brush your hair, and wear your favorite baseball hat or summer hat or wool beanie.

SIDE BRAID

–          So easy  that you can do it while watching your favorite show, braid your hair the regular way just starting from one side of your head to the other.
–          Pancake your braid, meaning puff it out, pull each strain a little bit so your braid looks fuller.

Follow me on instagram @livingmybestlifeblog and tell me what are your favorite hairstyles for unwashed hair.

5 ways to spend quality time with your kids

Hey… Living my best life BLOG is actually out in the world (yay!) and while being a busy momma can be challenging specially when you’re trying to keep everything in balance, you know what I’m talking about sis… playing with barbies, cleaning your house, folding laundry, making dinner, you name it…Yet, we all acknowledge that spending quality time with our kids is vitally needed to create unforgettable memories and to show love to our little precious humans.
With that in mind I came up with 5 fun ways to spend quality time with your kiddos doing something you will enjoy!

1.Pack a PICNIC It can be in your backyard or your local park, anywhere outside of your house where you can enjoy the fresh air and the sun. Make some sandwiches and cut delicious fruit and enjoy!

2.Make them a cute just because note I do this once a week for my girls and it really makes an impact in their day. Just telling them how much you love them or how happy their laugh makes you, i promise you it will brighten their smiles and hearts.

3.Bake a cake together This is great for letting them feel like grown-ups, let them mix the ingredients and break the eggs (my girls favorite thing to do)  and the best part… Let them decorate it however they want; frosting, sprinkles, caramel, cherries, whipped cream can being put on little cups to make easier for them to use.

4.Take a trip to your local library Kids are never too little to adopt the good habit of reading, let them pick any books they like and you will be surprise to see the exceptional impact books create in their life. Mark an hour a day to read with your kiddos or let them read to you.

5. Put electronics down Ok… let’s get real here sister, I’m so guilty of this, but you and me know that we NEED to be present and give all our attention to those little ones running and dancing around the house. I mean Instagram, Facebook and all social media can wait right?

 your girl Mary
